演讲主题

Open Source: Accelerating the Next Generation of Clouds

Today, IT departments take weeks to provision new services. When a “Line of Business” manager requests a server or a service, new equipment may need to be ordered, and after it’s delivered and installed, it must be provisioned manually. The lines of business have an alternative: the public cloud (e.g. Amazon Web Services). IT departments must compete with “instant provisioning.”Software Defined Infrastructure deployed in datacenters would have a pool of compute, network and storage resources deployed on industry standard x86 platforms, with the platform attributes made visible to an orchestration layer so that workloads can be intelligently scheduled and provisioned on the appropriate resources. Applications would then get the required service levels at a reduced Total Cost of Operation (TCO), eliminating the pools of siloed resources that currently proliferate in the datacenter. In summary, SDI helps IT providers, whether in-house or off-premise, to quickly respond to end-user needs while delivering the required levels of service assurance. The presentation introduces why the industry has rallied behind OpenStack, how OpenStack helps SDI infrastructure, what Intel contributed to OpenStack, and what Intel and the community have been working together to embrace Open Source to accelerate the next generation of clouds. 。
